Ho Chi Minh City commemorates COVID-19 victims

VOV.VN - A ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 19 to commemorate compatriots, officials, and soldiers who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Addressing the event, Tran Kim Yen, chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee (VFF), extended her deep respect and condolences to families who lost loved ones during the pandemic.

She recalled the southern city’s harsh period as the COVID-19 pandemic claimed the lives of more than 23,000 compatriots, officers, and soldiers

The VFF leader went on to express their deep gratitude to localities, agencies, businesses, religious organisations, and compatriots throughout the country, as well as foreigners who made positive contributions and accompanied the city to overcome the challenging time.

Yen expressed hope that families will try to overcome these difficulties, and at the same time affirmed authorities and localities will continue the fight against COVID-19 and other diseases.

At the ceremony, Nguyen Van Nen, politburo member and secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, burned incense and offered flowers to commemorate those who died of COVID-19.
