Health Ministry sets guidelines for classification of dengue fever cases
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) issued guidelines on July 12 regarding the classification of dengue fever patients in a bid to improve the overall effectiveness of treatment and reduce the mortality rate caused by the disease.
The latest guidance deems it necessary to classify dengue fever cases into to three levels of severity, including dengue fever without warning signs, dengue fever with warning signs, and severe dengue fever cases with severe plasma leakage, severe bleeding, or organ failure.
The Ministry also directed the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases to provide professional technical support, classify cases, as well as to train health professionals on dengue fever treatment in adults across 28 provinces and cities. In addition, the National Children's Hospital is to be in charge of training for dengue fever treatment in children.
Hue Central Hospital will provide professional technical support and training on dengue fever treatment in children and adults for three provinces, including Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Binh, and Quang Tri.
Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City-based Children Hospitals No.1 and Children Hospitals No.2 will be primarily responsible for training in 20 southern provinces.
According to details given by the Ministry of Health, since the beginning of this year as many as 89,120 cases of dengue fever had been detected across the country, with several fatalities being confirmed.
