HCM City set to begin COVID-19 vaccination for children aged five to 12

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Health is poised to kick-start its COVID-19 vaccination campaign for children aged five to under 12 from April 15, making use of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

The southern city has around 898,537 children aged five to 12 who are eligible for vaccination. Some of them will have their vaccination suspended as they had previously been infected with COVID-19 within the last three months.

Children across the city will therefore get the first dose from between April 16 and April 30. The second dose will then be inoculated for them within 14 days of their first dose.

April 16 alone will see the COVID-19 vaccinations conducted for sixth graders across 22 districts and Thu Duc City.

For inoculating fifth graders, the municipal Department of Health will select five primary schools, including Nguyen Binh Khiem in District 1, Bau Sen in District 5, Duong Minh Chau in District 10, Ho Van Hue in Phu Nhuan District, and Tan Son Nhi in Tan Phu District.

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign for children in the southern metropolis is expected to be finished by September this year.
