HCM City records first three Omicron cases in community

VOV.VN - Three local residents of Ho Chi Minh City have tested positive for the Omicron variant in the community, said doctors of Hospital April 30 under the Ministry of Public Security.

The genome sequencing of the three patients who are receiving COVID-19 treatment at Hospital April 30 showed they had contracted the Omicron strain BA.1.

The results of gene decoding were confirmed on January 18 by the HCM City Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Vietnamnet.vn reported.

The three patients live in Binh Chanh and Go Vap Districts and District 11.

The municipal Department of Health has yet to give any comment on the news.

These are first three locally acquired Omicron cases in the city.

HCM City has previously confirmed 30 Omicron cases with all of them returning to Vietnam from overseas.
