HCM City records 154 new cases over six hours

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed an additional 260 coronavirus cases recorded in 12 cities and province in Vietnam during the past six hours, with Ho Chi Minh City registering 154 cases alone.

Of the total, 258 were locally acquired cases, and four fifths of them were detected in quarantine and lockdown areas, the MoH said in its 12.00am COVID-19 update on July 1.

HCM City remains the largest coronavirus hotspot in southern Vietnam, registering 154 new cases during the past six hours.

About 116 were F1 cases i.e. in first-hand contact with COVID-19 patients and the remaining 38 cases were of unknown origin.

The new cases raised the city’s tally of infections to nearly 4,400 since the virus resurged in Vietnam two months ago.

Elsewhere, 48 new cases were logged in Binh Duong, 28 in Long An, 10 in Phu Yen, five in Hung Yen, four in Bac Giang, three in Nghe An, three in Ha Tinh, and one each in Binh Phuoc, Dong Thap, and Bac Ninh.

The MoH also announced two imported cases, returning to Vietnam through Ha Tien border gate in Kien Giang province.

Vietnam has recorded 13,942 COVID-19 cases since late April 2021 and 17,312 cases since January 2020 when the virus first attacked Vietnam.
