HCM City pharmacy firm imports 5 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health has permitted a pharmaceutical company of Ho Chi Minh City to purchase five million doses of China’s Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine known as Vero Cell for emergency use.
Le Viet Dung, deputy director of the Drug Administration of Vietnam, has signed a decision to allow Saigon Pharmaceutical Company Limited to import the Sinopharm vaccine for emergency use in HCM City.
The company has been assigned by the HCM City administration to conduct negotiations and sign contracts to purchase COVId-19 vaccines for local use.
Vero Cell is the sixth COVID-19 vaccine that has been approved by the World Health Organisation for emergency use worldwide.
The vaccine has also been approved for emergency use in Vietnam by the Ministry of Health. The Chinese government has already donated 500,000 doses of the vaccine to Vietnam.
According to the World Health Organisation, Vero Cell has the efficacy of more than 70% against symptomatic COVID-19 infection.
