HCM City: man gets death penalty for drug transporting

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court on August 24 sentenced an Australian national to death for illegally transporting 3.5 kg of drugs.

Pham Trung Dung, 39, was captured at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on May 17, 2013 carrying the amount of drugs in his luggage.

Dung confessed that a man named Kien had paid him AUD40,000 to bring two suitcases to Austria, and hand them to another man named Loi.
