Hanoi youth responds to Voluntary Blood Donation Day

VOV.VN - Roughly 1,000 young people participated in a day aimed at encouraging blood donations in Hanoi as part of efforts to mark Voluntary Blood Donation Day on April 7 and the upcoming World Blood Donor Day on June 14.

Nguyen Tuong Lam, deputy chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation, stated blood is in short supply at medical facilities, and the situation got worse when COVID-19 broke out across the country.

The Vietnam Youth Federation has therefore called upon all of its members to show responsibility for the community by joining in the blood donation campaign, Lam stressed.

Donating his blood, Vu Tuan Anh, a second year student at Hanoi University of Transport, said this is the third time he has taken part in the event and feels happy doing something meaningful to help society.

The three-week campaign is being jointly organised by the National Institute Of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) and the Vietnam Youth Federation.

This year the campaign is anticipated to collect approximately 1,000 units of blood.
