Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations gives helping hand to foreigners

According to Tran Thi Phuong, vice president of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the HUFO have handed out a total of 270 gifts to foreigners who are in desperate need of support.

“We offered a total of 392 gifts to foreigners who are experts, unemployed workers, teachers, PhD students, and students who are working and studying in Hanoi.

We hope that this support will help you feel secure and joins COVID-19 containment efforts with Hanoi. Despite being small gifts, it is a great source of encouragement for you and shows the attention given to you by the Vietnamese people," emphasised Phuong.

Sinhkitsalath Phitsamay, a Laotian graduate student from the Banking Academy, said the positive feelings and sincere help of the Vietnamese people, as well those from citizens in Hanoi towards the Laotian people has been a tradition for many years. Indeed, the gifts from the HUFO are an expression of those good feelings, he added.

Joel Erik Nils Ahlgren of Swedish national teaching at an English centre, said that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused great difficulty in his life. However, thanks to support policies implemented by Hanoi over the recent past, as well as through the assistance of the HUFO, he and his friends still feel secure enough to continue living and working in the capital.

Over recent times, the Hanoi People's Committee, departments, agencies, and large organisations had paid due attention to supporting people in difficulty due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes donating gifts, providing free bus trips, and setting up a hotline system of the Fatherland Front at all levels, from the city down to grassroots.
