Hanoi seeks to reduce COVID-19 deaths

VOV.VN - The Hanoi Department of Health has requested public and non-public medical examination and treatment facilities to implement a range of solutions aimed at reducing the number of deaths caused by COVID-19.

According to the department’s latest dispatch, all suspected cases and confirmed COVID-19 cases must be classified, have their risk fully assessed, and be diagnosed in order to come up with timely treatment.

In line with the measures, all cases undergoing a medical examination at treatment facilities must be carefully screened, with a particular focus on their history of COVID-19 vaccinations. Moreover, vulnerable and unvaccinated people, individuals aged 65 and above, and those with underlying health conditions, must undergo treatment in private areas.

Most notably, the department has also requested that hospitals and treatment facilities across the capital accept all patients with COVID-19.

As such, it is necessary for COVID-19 treatment facilities to review their infrastructure and oxygen systems to ensure the sufficient storage and supply of medical oxygen for patients from the grassroots to central levels.

The Ministry of Health recently sent a document to local health departments, asking them to introduce measures to reduce the risk of death caused by COVID-19.

It stated that though Vietnam has yet to record any Omicron cases, the numbers of infections, patients in critical condition, and related deaths are still on the rise, whilst the healthcare system in some localities has become overloaded.

The Ministry recommended that provincial-level administrations organise vaccinations as safely and swiftly as possible, in addition to ensuring that no people are left without full inoculation, especially those in high-risk groups.

They were also required to increase training in home treatment to avoid overloading higher-lever hospitals and enhancing the capacity of the healthcare system at all levels.
