Hanoi records additional COVID-19 relapse case

VOV.VN - A 21-year-old man from Hanoi who had previously been discharged from hospital for a period of two months after recovering from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), has once again tested positive for the virus.

According to information released by the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control and Prevent (CDC Hanoi), the infected man is patient No.1032 and had originally tested positive for COVID-19 after returning to the nation on August 10 from Russia.

The individual was then diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus on August 25 before being admitted to the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases between August 25 and September 17.

During his spell in quarantine, he had samples taken for the purpose of COVID-19 testing seven times, with the initial test coming back positive.

After going on to record six consecutive negative tests for the virus, he was subsequently released from hospital in order to undergo a 14-day period of isolation at home.

According to the man, during his self-quarantine he only came into close contact with relatives and his girlfriend.

After concluding his period of isolation at home, the man then went back to continue his studies at Hanoi University. Whilst at university he says that he wore a face mask when going outside, although he did not wear any protective items on his face when in the class.

After participating in a health check-up on November 7 at the Transport Hospital in Hanoi, the man was diagnosed with a viral fever and was subsequently given home treatment.

His results came back positive for the novel virus on November 15 after his sample was sent to the Vietnam National Children's Hospital for a PCR test.

CDC Hanoi state that they have successfully tracked down and quarantined a total of 25 people who came into close contact with the COVID-19 case, with the majority of those who were sampled now waiting to receive their results.
