Hanoi police arrest internationally-wanted Korean murderer
VOV.VN -The Hanoi police said on September 24 that they have arrested Korean national Kim Hyeong Gwon, who had an international arrest warrant out for the crime of murder.
According to initial information, through routine surveillance conducted in the area, the police of Hanoi’s Dong Da district discovered a Korean man displaying suspicious behaviour. They immediately co-operated alongside relevant forces to conduct a thorough investigation into the case.
On September 12, the police confirmed that the suspect was Kim Hyeong Won, 39, who has been wanted internationally since May 12 for murder.
Kim confessed that on May 3, he and his two accomplices committed murder in Pattaya, Thailand. They then hid the victim’s body in a plastic barrel before dumping it into a lake.
After that, the Korean national fled from Thailand to Laos and then illegally entered Vietnam by road. He traveled to Da Nang and then on to Hanoi. He chose to stay in small hotels as part of efforts to evade arrest, but was eventually discovered by local police.
For violating immigration laws, the police, working in co-ordination with the Immigration Management Division of the Ha Noi Police Department, imposed a VND4 million administrative fine for illegal entry.
The Korean suspect was then handed over to the Korean National Police.
