Hanoi aims to limit use of plastic products for tourism activities

Accordingly, the Hanoi Department of Tourism has requested that all businesses, organisations, and individuals within the city implement a number of environmental protection activities at tourism sites and travel companies to promote sustainable tourism development.

The department has also devised six solutions for tourism businesses, organisations, and individuals to promote their use of environmentally friendly products, limit the use of nylon bags and other plastic products, in addition to reducing their overall plastic waste.

Priority should also be given to products that make use of eco-friendly labels and organic packaging, according to the department. 

Currently, Hanoi is home to more than 3,400 accommodation establishments, and dozens of entertainment sites to serve tourists.

The department has made efforts to spread information on environmental protection activities at public places and tourism businesses whilst also calling on tourists to join in environmental protection.

The department has also requested that tourism businesses and organisations set up units that are in charge of environmental protection and issue regulations aimed at protecting the environment of tourism sites around the city.
