Google to train Vietnamese farmers in digital skills
VOV.VN - Google has announced it will support the Vietnam Farmer’s Union to establish training courses on internet skills for over 30,000 farmers in nine provinces across the country over the next three years, reports Dantri Online Newspaper.
Eric Schmidt, the executive chair of Alphabet Inc, said Google will help the Farmer’s Union train 540 instructors as part of the program, who will in turn teach 10,000 farmers annually during training seminars and workshops.
Mr Eric Schmidt underscored the importance of information technology in improving the livelihoods of farmers and the need to better equip them with digital skills to improve their farming proficiency, which will manifest itself in increased productivity and higher earnings.
Lai Xuan Mon, chair of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union, in turn said that he is confident the Google training will contribute to accelerating the application of science and technology in agriculture and serve to improve farmer’s living standards.
