Further 3,657 fresh COVID cases bring daily count to 8,649

VOV.VN - An additional 3,657 positive COVID-19 infections, including 22 imported cases, were recorded on the evening of July 30, thereby raising the daily infection count to 8,649, according to information released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the 8,622 domestic cases recorded, Ho Chi Minh City accounted for the majority at 4282, Binh Duong (1920), Long An (469), Dong Nai (360), Tien Giang (242), Khanh Hoa (217), Can Tho (174), Dong Thap (157), Ha Noi (144), and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (133).

The remaining local cases detected in other localities involved either single-digit or double-digit infections in each province.

Of all the cases confirmed nationwide, 1,702 were detected among the local community, with the rest being in quarantine or in areas currently under lockdown.

As of July 28 evening, the country had recorded a total of 134,827 domestically-transmitted infections and 2,235 imported ones. The caseload since the start of the fourth wave of COVID-19 outbreaks which initially hit the nation three months ago has climbed to 134,210.

Furthermore, July 30 also saw an additional 3,704 COVID-19 patients being discharged from hospital, pushing up the total recoveries to 35,484.

The same day, the Treatment Subcommittee under the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced a further 139 fatalities relating to COVID-19 during between July 16 and July 30 in six provinces and cities throughout the country, with HCM City suffering the highest number at 122.

Hanoi is in the midst of witnessing a growing number of domestic cases, with many linked to pre-existing clusters found among the community. In the face of the current situation, the municipal administration has decided to enforce a number of strict pandemic measures in a bid to curb the ongoing spread of the virus to the wider community.

So far, the capital has recorded over 1,280 positive COVID-cases during the ongoing wave.
