Fresh COVID-19 infections fall to record low of 17 on Jan. 21

VOV.VN - Vietnam recorded 17 new coronavirus infections on January 21, a record low on a single day, with only one severe case receiving treatment in hospital, reported the Ministry of Health.

Eight infected people recovered from the disease during the day, raising the number of recoveries to 10.6 million, said the ministry.

Currently, only one patient relies on mechanical ventilation in hospital.

Vietnam has so far logged more than 11.5 million coronavirus infections since the start of the outbreak in January 2020, ranking 13th out of 230 countries and territories worldwide.  

As many as 43,186 people have died of COVID-19 and underlying illnesses, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

More than 266 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to people of different age groups.
