Free health check-ups for the disadvantaged in southern Cambodia

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia coordinated with the Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital and the Takeo branch of the Khmer-Vietnamese Association (KVA) in Cambodia offered free health check-ups and treatment to Cambodian and Vietnamese-origin people with disadvantages in Takeo province on November 1.

About 500 local residents benefited from the programme, held at the KVA headquarters in Roka Khnong ward of Takeo's Daun Keo city.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu praised the Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital’s coordination in public health care in Cambodia. He said the programme was part of the health cooperation between the two countries, describing it as humanistic and practical and a contribution to public health in Cambodia.

He suggested the hospital hold more similar activities across Cambodia, and called on Cambodian and Vietnamese-origin people to maintain solidarity and mutual support, thereby helping enhance the two countries’ relations and Cambodia’s development.

This was the 14th time the Cho Ray Phnom Penh Hospital had implemented the charitable health examination and treatment programme in Cambodia, Hospital General Director Dr. Ton Thanh Tra said, the activity is carried out biannually in every locality it comes to.

Deputy Governor of Takeo province Sut Khon stressed the significance of the programme, which is in line with the Cambodian Government’s policy of promoting community health care. He also called this programme a demonstration of the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
