First VinBus electric buses hit streets of Ho Chi Minh City
VOV.VN - The first electric buses of VinBus Ecology Transport Services Limited Liability Company (VinBus) were officially launched in Ho Chi Minh City to facilitate local commuters’ travel.
The electric bus route passes through several major routes, new urban areas, companies, factories, and the Thu Duc city’s administrative centre.
The bus operates every 20 minutes and runs from 5 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. daily with ticket prices at VND3,000 per trip for students and VND7,000 for others.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Tran Quang Lam, director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, emphasised that Ho Chi Minh City is aiming to develop into a civilised, modern, and sustainable urban area. In order to fulfil this ambition, the development of public transport must be considered as the top priority to resolve the southern city’s traffic problems.
The operation of environmentally friendly electric buses on a pilot basis is expected to contribute to establishing a modern transport system that provides residents with additional high-quality transport services, Lam added.
Vietnam’s first smart electric buses that make use eco-friendly energy were officially put into operation in Hanoi last December.
