Facing The World, Pan Pacific Hanoi Hotel raise funds for disfigured children

VOV.VN - Facing The World - UK Charity for Children with Facial Disfigurement, and Pan Pacific Hanoi Hotel jointly held a charity concert on May 6 to mark the 10th anniversary of the UK organization’s presence in Vietnam and signed a cooperation deal to raise funds for Vietnamese children with facial deformations.

Facing the World is a UK-based charity that offers surgery to children with facial disfigurements in developing countries. During more than 10-years of operation in Vietnam, the organization has contributed to changing the lives of thousands of Vietnamese children with facial deformities.

With a motto of respecting and caring for the community, Pan Pacific Hanoi will join hands with Facing the World for activities throughout the coming year which will raise the necessary funds to provide surgeries for many children. The hotel will send letters to its clients and set up charity boxes to encourage hotel stayers to donate money. As part of the initiative, a percentage of the proceeds from selling food for children will be contributed to the fund.

The signing ceremony between Facing the World and Pan Pacific Hanoi Hotel was witnessed by Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau, Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Vietnam on issues of UNESCO, UK Ambassador to Vietnam Giles Lever, and representatives of many organizations, companies and donors such as Vietnam Airlines, Hong Ngoc General Hospital, and Emerald Garment SJC.

The charity concert drew the participation of pianist Bich Tra, the first Vietnamese national to be presented with the Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) title of the British Royal Music Academy, other performers included pianist Thu Hien, violinist Trong Binh, and singer Mien Thao.

On the occasion, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations conferred an insignia on Katrin Kandel, Executive Director of Facing the World, in recognition of the contributions that she and her organisation have made to Vietnam over the past decade.

This demonstrates an acknowledgement by Vietnamese state agencies and international organizations of the charity organization’s contributions to changing the lives of disadvantaged children, who are unable to afford such transformative surgeries.
