F1 contacts linked to COVID-19 relapse case quarantined in Quang Binh

VOV.VN - Quang Binh province’s Department of Health stated on December 8 that they have successfully tracked down and quarantined a total of 25 people who are linked to a novel coronavirus (COVID-19) relapse case.

This follows the detection of a relapse case involving a 19-year-old man who had originally been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus on November 8 after returning to the country from Romania. Upon detection of the virus after his arrival in Vietnam, he was swiftly admitted to the Cu Chi field hospital in order to receive treatment.

After undergoing treatment for COVID-19 and recording several consecutive negative tests for the virus, he was subsequently released from hospital on December 3 before catching a passenger coach from Ho Chi Minh City to Quy Dat town in Minh Hoa district of Quang Binh province. Following this, he went to Trung Hoa commune health station on December 4 in order to declare his health status.

Three days after his health declaration, another sample was taken from the patient, with his test results once again coming back positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

This prompted authorities to rapidly track down the 25 F1 cases who had travelled with him on the passenger coach, with each of the individuals being transferred to a concentrated quarantine facility.

Previously, there have been dozens of relapse cases recorded in the country, although experts believe that there is no evidence which indicates relapse cases are capable of infecting others with the virus.
