The 57-minute film illustrates the physical and spiritual pain that Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin have suffered in their daily lives over the past decades.
Moviegoers shared the victims’ pain and demanded that justice and equality prevail in favour of the victims, including the bereaved.
An exchange with moviegoers was held after the screening with the participation of Le Luong Minh, head of the Vietnamese mission to the United Nations, the film’s co-producers and lawyers representing Vietnamese plaintiffs in the lawsuit against US chemical firms.
Mr Minh said despite its limited budget, every year the Vietnamese government spends hundreds of million US dollars on carrying out environmental clean-up programmes and providing assistance to Agent Orange/Dioxin victims. He thanked non-govenrmental organisations in the US for implementing projects in support of the victims. He also welcomed a recent US decision to grant a US$400,000 aid to help central Da Nang city to clean up toxic chemical-affected areas.
The Vietnamese ambassador thanked film producers and expressed his hope that the film will awaken millions of hearts.
