Daily COVID-19 caseload continues to reach new high of over 78,000
VOV.VN - The Health Ministry reported the discovery of a further 78,795 new COVID-19 cases on February 25, an increase of 9,655 from the previous day, pushing the national infection tally since the start of the pandemic to over 3.1 million cases.
Hanoi remains the locality recording the highest number of infections with 9,836 cases, followed by Quang Ninh with 4,651 and Bac Giang with 3,563.
Among the latest infections, a total of 54,345 were detected within the community.
The Health Ministry also confirmed a further 15,835 recoveries on the same day, thereby bringing the total number of recovered cases up to 2,355,619.
Since the latest wave that hit the country back in late April, more than 3.11 million cases have been confirmed, with over 2.35 million of them having since recovered.
The nation’s death toll caused by COVID-19 now stands at 39,962, or 1.3 % of total cases.
The average number of new cases in the country over the past seven days has been 57,160 a day, while the national death rate has been an average of 86 a day.
To date a total of 192.86 million COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered nationwide, including more than 176.1 million for people 18 years and older .
Recent times has seen the country continue to detect a growing number of new COVID-19 infections with a record figure of over 57,000 per day.
The Ministry of Health has issued new guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 in children, especially children under 12 months who are at high risk of suffering severe disease.
In addition, the number of children infected with COVID-19 has tended to increase recently.
The latest guidance also regulates treatment with the antiviral drug Remdesivir to treat children with mild cases of COVID-19.
Under this new guidance, the Ministry has changed the instructions on confirmed cases of children with COVID-19.
