COVID-19: Vietnam safe from COVID-19 for 6 straight days

VOV.VN - Vietnam has registered no new locally transmitted coronavirus cases during the past 6 consecutive days, retaining its tally of infections at 1,049, the Ministry of Health said on September 8 morning.

No new cases, both locally transmitted and imported, have been recorded during the past 24 hours, the ministry said. 39 cases have been discharged from hospital during the day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 854..

To date Vietnam has confirmed 691 cases of community transmission, including 551 cases detected since July 25 when the virus resurged in Vietnam’s Da Nang city.

Among 160 active cases, 66 patients have tested negative for the virus at least once. 35 patients have died of COVID-19 and other underlying illnesses.

The number of quarantined people who had contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from epidemic hit countries has fallen to nearly 37,500.

The Ministry of Health has recently launched the 5K communication campaign, considered an ‘iron shield,’ to encourage people to implement preventive measures. The ministry recommended wearing Khau trang (wearing face masks), Khu khuan (washing hands, cleaning houses or contacting objects), Khoang cach (keeping a safe distance), Khai bao y te (Making health declaration) and Khong tu tap (Avoiding public gatherings).

According to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son, the latest coronavirus outbreak has been brought under control but the fight has yet to come to an end. Therefore he said it’s time to co-live safely with COVID-19 to achieve the dual goal of epidemic prevention and economic recovery.
