COVID-19: Vietnam records 23,000 new infections, nearly 86,000 recoveries
VOV.VN - Vietnam reported 23,012 fresh coronavirus cases on April 14, a fall of 1,611 cases compared to the previous day.
All the new cases were diagnosed in Vietnam, including 18,570 cases recorded in the community, said the Ministry of Health in its coronavirus update.
The new infections were documented in 62 cities and provinces, with Hanoi registering 1,677 cases, the highest among localities.
Localities that saw daily infections drop most compared to the previous day were Phu Tho (-348), Hai Duong (-246), and Vinh Phuc (-211).
Meanwhile, localities that saw daily infections rise most compared to the previous day were Bac Ninh (+195), Quang Binh (+154), and Ninh Binh (+115).
On average, 27,914 cases were detected daily in Vietnam in the past seven days.
Notably, the Ministry of Health announced nearly 86,000 recoveries and 23 fatalities the same day.
As of 06pm on April 14, Vietnam has confirmed more than 10.3 million infections, ranking 12th out of 227 countries and territories worldwide.
Of the total, more than 8.8 million patients have recovered, and nearly 43,000 patients have died of the virus and underlying illnesses.
Nearly 209 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide.
The Ministry of Health also launched a vaccination campaign for children aged 5 – 12 in Quang Ninh province on April 14, using the Moderna vaccine.
