COVID-19: Three imported cases detected, 2,115 recoveries

VOV.VN - Vietnam registered an additional three imported cases of COVID-19 on March 15, raising the overall number of infections nationwide to 2,557, while a total of 2,115 patients have released from hospital after making a full recovery from the virus, according the Ministry of Health.

Overall, the country has documented 1,594 local infections, and 963 imported cases which were immediately put into isolation upon entry.

The same day, a further 29 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital, taking the total recoveries to 2,115, while the number of deaths caused by COVID-19 remains at 35.

Among the patients currently undergoing treatment for the virus, a total of 174 cases have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 at least once, with the majority recording negative results.

Furthermore, more than 39,600 individuals have been put into quarantine across the nation after coming into close contact with infected people or having returned to the nation from pandemic-hit regions.

Indeed, first batches of COVID-19 vaccine from the COVAX Facility, including about 1.37 million doses of AstraZeneca, are set to arrive in Vietnam on March 25.
Earlier, the global initiative pledged 30 million doses for Vietnam this year in different phases.

The Ministry of Health has accelerated its negotiation with other vaccine developers in the world in an effort to expand the COVID-19 vaccine coverage nationwide in the time ahead.

It also called on firms to access other vaccine suppliers to import the vaccines for domestic use, in accordance with Resolution No. 21 of the Government on the purchase and use of COVID-19 vaccines.

Since the resurgence of the virus in late January, most of the 13 pandemic-hit localities have gone nearly one month without new infections in the community.
