COVID-19: Three cases from Uzbekistan bring Vietnam tally to 1,066
VOV.VN - Three Vietnamese returnees from Uzbekistan have been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, taking Vietnam’s tally of coronavirus cases to 1,066, the Ministry of Health reported on September 17.
The newly registered patients entered Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi from Uzbekistan on flight CHSEJ3569 on September 2 and were immediately quarantined after their entry into the country. Their test results came back positive for SARS-CoV-2-virus on September 16.
Currently, the three patients are isolated to receive treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi’s Dong Anh’s district.
With the new infections, the nation’s total COVID-19 cases rose to 1,066, of which 691 are locally transmitted cases, and 375 cases are imported and placed into isolation immediately upon arrival.
The same day, a further four COVID-19 patients were given the all-clear after testing negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the overall number of recovery cases to 940.
The total figure for cases related to the outbreak in the central city of Da Nang since the resurgence of the virus in late July remains at 551.
There are 30,650 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are being quarantined nationwide, including 454 at hospitals, and the remainder at concentrated quarantine establishments and at home.
Among the active patients in treatment, 14 tested negative for coronavirus SAR-CoV-2 once, 7 twice and 19 three times.
The country has so far registered 35 fatalities relating to COVID-19, mostly of them were elderly people with serious underlying health issues.
