COVID-19: Overall number rises to 1,540 after one more case recorded

VOV.VN - A 20-year-old Vietnamese man was diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, raising the total tally of COVID-19 infection in Vietnam to 1,540, the Ministry of Health said on January 19.

The patient entered Da Nang airport on flight VN431 from the US on January 13, and was immediately isolated in the central city of Da.

He is currently placed into isolation for treatment at Da Nang Lung Hospital after his test result came back positive for the virus.

Earlier there were four positive COVID-19 cases detected on the same flight and all the cases were isolated in Da Nang.

The subcommittee for treatment reported that the total number of recoveries stands at 1,402, while the death toll related to the disease remains unchanged at 35.
Among the patients undergoing treatment across the country, 30 tested negative for the virus at least one or several times.

As of January 19, the country’s infection tally register 1,540, with locally transmitted cases accounting for 693 of the total, whilst imported cases account for 847, with each of these being immediately placed into isolation upon entering the country.

More than 18,000 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are currently quarantined throughout the country.
