COVID-19: No new coronavirus infections in community for 13 straight days

VOV.VN - Vietnam confirmed no new COVID-19 cases on September 15, marking 13 consecutive days without community associated infections since the second outbreak hit central Da Nang city on July 25, according to the Ministry of Health.

The nation has so far recorded a total of 1,063 COVID-19 infections, of which 691 are locally transmitted cases, and 372 cases are imported and placed into isolation immediately upon arrival.

Notably, a further five COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital after testing negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bring the overall number of people who have now beaten the virus to 931.

The total figure for cases related to the outbreak in the central city of Da Nang since the resurgence of the virus in late July remains at 551.

There are more than 32,570 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are being quarantined nationwide, including nearly 460 at hospitals, and the remainder at concentrated quarantine establishments and at home.

Among the active patients receiving treatment, 16 tested negative for SAR-CoV-2 once, 12 twice and 18 three times.

The country has so far registered 35 fatalities relating to COVID-19, mostly of them were elderly people with serious underlying diseases.
