COVID-19: More 57 local infections, with 45 detected in Bac Giang hotspot

VOV.VN - The Health Ministry reported the detection of a further 57 new COVID-19 community transmissions in five localities on May 25 morning, taking the new coronavirus wave's tally to 2,405.

The latest domestic infections comprise 45 in Bac Giang, 2 in Bac Ninh, 4 in Hanoi, 4 in Lang Son, and 2 in Ha Nam, with the majority being F1 contacts with other confirmed coronavirus patients or related to previous outbreaks at industrial parks.

The total locally transmitted cases now stand at 3,975 , while the number of imported cases was 1,486.

The total recoveries reach 2,794, and 44 patients died of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), with 9 fatalities recorded in the latest coronavirus wave that hit the nation in late April.

Amid the increasingly complicated developments of COVID-19, Hanoi has decided to close all food and beverage places as well as hair parlors, starting as of midday May 25.

Under the decision issued by Chairman of the Municipal People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh on May 24, food and beverage places can only allow takeaways, while citizens must absolutely suspend recreational activities, physical exercises and large gatherings at public places.

Besides, returnees to Hanoi from other localities starting as from May 25 must make health declarations by themselves within 24 hours ever since arriving in the capital.

Meanwhile, at a recent meeting between the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control and Bac Ninh and Bac Giang, the two hardest hit localities in the latest outbreak, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested that all workers at concentrated industrial parks and factories in both provinces finalize health declarations, while asking the Ministries of Industry and Trade and Planning and Investment to work together on issuing guiding documents regarding the issue.

One day earlier, Vietnam documented a total of 184 COVID-19 cases of local transmission, with most of them found in the current hotspots of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Hanoi.
