COVID-19: Five new imported cases, one more fatality
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s total novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases amounted to 1,034 after five further fresh cases were confirmed, while another coronavirus patient in the central province of Quang Ngai died of COVID-19 and other underlying health problems.
The new infections are cases imported into the nation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia, and they were put in quarantine right upon entry.
With the new confirmed cases, 687 are local transmissions, and 347 entered Vietnam from abroad.
Among the positive cases currently receiving treatment, 53 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, and 114 others have tested negative at least twice.
Notably, a total of 37 COVID-19 patients were declared to have fully recovered from the disease, boosting the national tally of recoveries to 632.
The same day, the Ministry of Health also announced the two COVID-19 fatalities in the central provinces of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai who died of pneumonia caused by COVID-19, septic shock, chronic renal failure, hypertension, heart failure, and cerebrovascular accident.
The latest fatalities bring the country’s death toll to 29 since the disease recurred in Vietnam last month with the first outbreak in central Da Nang city.
Concerning a fatality at the Hoa Vang medical centre on late August 25, the Ministry of Health said the 56-year-old woman who lived in Da Nang’s Son Tra district, died after testing negative for the novel coronavirus thrice.
Her death was due to septic shock, multiple-organ failure, pneumonia, end-stage renal failure, heart failure and cerebrovascular problems. The patient is not counted as a fatality relating to COVID-19.
According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, of total 69,420 people in quarantine nationwide, there have been more than 1,870 individuals at hospitals, and the remainder are at other quarantine facilities or at home.
With the country's COVID-19 tally now standing at 1,034, 29 coronavirus patients have died as a result of severe chronic diseases and COVID-19 related complications, and 412 positive cases in treatment.
