COVID-19: Eight more imported cases recorded, tally reaches 1,168

VOV.VN - Vietnam registered a further eight fresh imported COVID-19 cases, taking the nation’s overall number of active cases to 1,168, the Ministry of Heath reported on October 25.

The new infections are all Vietnamese citizens who returned home from France, Angola and the US. They were placed into isolation immediately after touching down at local airports and they are now under health monitoring for COVID-19 treatment.

The number of coronavirus cases in Vietnam currently stands at 1,168, including 691 domestic infections and 477 imported ones.

The same day, six more COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the virus, raising the total number of recovered patients to 1,057. The death toll is still kept at 35.

Among those still under treatment, 18 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least one, with many testing negative several times. No patients are in critical condition at present, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control’s treatment sub-committee.

There are more than 14,570 people who had close contact with confirmed cases or came from pandemic-hit regions under quarantine now, including over 180 at hospitals, and the remainder at other quarantine sites, and at home or accommodation facilities.

The Ministry of Health warned that despite all coronavirus hotbeds being brought under control, the risk of COVID-19 transmission still exist, especially when there are more repatriation and commercial international flights in the time ahead, and winter and spring with favourable weather conditions for some infectious diseases are coming.
