VOV.VN - Daily infections for April 22 fell by an additional 870 cases compared to the previous day to 11,160, a record low over the past two months, according to a coronavirus update released by the Ministry of Health.

All the new infections were documented in Vietnam, with 8,015 cases diagnosed in the community, said the Ministry of Health.

Notably, none of the localities recorded 1,000 cases each nationwide. Hanoi capital that had reported thousands of cases daily over the past days confirmed just 980 cases.

Localities that saw the number of infections decrease most compared to the previous day were Dak Nong (-208), Hai Duong (-111), and Gia Lai (-89).

Meanwhile, localities that saw the number of infections rise most compared to the previous day were Son la (+273), Vinh Phuc (+44) and Dien Bien (+33).

On average 13,586 cases were recorded in Vietnam daily in the past seven days.

The same day, the Ministry of Health announced an additional 2,338 patients recovering from the disease, and only seven more deaths in five localities.

As of 6pm on April 22, Vietnam has confirmed more than 10.5 million infections, ranking 12th out of 227 countries and territories worldwide.

Of the total, nearly 9.1 million patients have recovered, and nearly 43,000 patients have died of the virus and underlying illnesses.
