Cambodia official hails broadcasting cooperation efficiency with Vietnam

VOV.VN - Ly Vann Hong, Special Envoy of the Cambodian Government, spoke highly of the effective cooperation in broadcasting between Cambodia and Vietnam over the years, during his May 10 meeting with Voice of Vietnam (VOV) President Do Tien Sy in Hanoi.

Hong, who is also General Director of the General Department of Finance and Administration of Cambodia's Ministry of Information, thanked VOV for supporting the Cambodian broadcasting industry in equipment and training, helping modernize the industry on a par with regional development levels.

He expressed hope that VOV would assist Cambodia in accelerating the implementation of a project on strengthening production, archiving and broadcasting capacity for its national television and radio stations.

VOV President Do Tien Sy affirmed that both Vietnam and Cambodia have many things in common and the two countries’ broadcasting industries have a lot of room to develop cooperation relations.

He also reviewed cooperation between the two countries’ broadcasting industries and VOV’s support for Cambodia National Radio from the beginning in 1978.

The VOV leader proposed that the Cambodian side increase the broadcasting time of Vietnamese programmes from 15 to 30 minutes a day in Phnom Penh and six other provinces with a large population of Vietnamese people, as well as broadcasting 30 minute long radio programmes in Khmer every day produced by VOV in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Tonle Sap areas.

The Cambodian official also said he would report to the Ministry of Information on VOV’s requests which he hoped would be approved.

Also at the meeting, VOV also proposed that the two sides would expand cooperation to television broadcasting, given the fact that VOV owns up to 15 TV channels.

Special Envoy Hong said he was also very interested in cooperation in this field.
