Brunei seizes Vietnamese fishing boat

Bruneian police have arrested a Vietnamese boat with 10 people on board for fishing in Brunei’s territorial waters.

The Royal Brunei Police Force said in an announcement that the crew, between 18 and 50 years old, have been handed over to coast guard for investigation.

According to Bruneian law, the captain of a seized boat can be sentenced to up to five years of imprisonment and fined BND100,000 (US$71,271), while each crew member faces one year in prison and a BND2,500 fine (US$1,784).
