VOV.VN - A sudden squall on the afternoon of July 19 caused tourist boat QN 7105, carrying 48 passengers and five crew members, to capsize while touring Ha Long Bay in northern Quang Ninh province.

Immediately after the incident, the Quang Ninh Border Guard Command directed Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station to coordinate with other forces and quickly reach the scene for search and rescue operations.

Provincial Party Secretary Vu Dai Thang directly oversaw the emergency response, while Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Duc An arrived at the scene to coordinate rescue efforts. The top priority was to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew.

The Quang Ninh Military Command promptly advised the provincial People's Committee to establish a search and rescue command center and deploy emergency response forces later that afternoon and into the evening.

The Quang Ninh Border Guard deployed five boats and teams with 35 officers and soldiers, led by Colonel Tran Van Thanh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, to carry out the rescue at the scene. The vessel sank in the Gia Luan–Cat Hai area. Initial reports confirmed that the capsizing was caused by a strong squall around 2 p.m.

By 5 p.m., Colonel Nguyen Quang Hoa, Commander of the Quang Ninh Border Guard, reported that 10 people had been rescued in coordination with other forces. By 6 p.m., additional victims had been recovered.
