Anniversary of Hung Kings’ death celebrated nationwide

VOV.VN - Many localities across the country celebrated the anniversary of the death of the Hung Kings on April 25 (the tenth day of the third lunar month) to respectfully remember the merits of the country’s ancestors and to show their deep gratitude to the founders of the nation.

Thousands of people gathered at ceremonies to mark the anniversary of the Hung Kings’ death at Luong Khe communal house in Kon Tum City and Thap Ky Quang pagoda in Dak Ha district in the Central Highland province of Kon Tum.

Local leaders and citizens offered Chung cakes and Day cakes, as well as local specialties such as com lam (bamboo-tube rice), Dak Ha coffee, and medicinal herbs to Hung Kings.

On the occasion, disadvantaged pupils with excellent academic records were presented with Hung Vuong scholarships.

Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the death of the Hung Kings at the Hung Kings Memorial site in the National Historical and Cultural Park on April 25 with the participation of former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) Huynh Dam, Secretary of HCM City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, and a large number of armed forces and local people.

To Thi Bich Chau, President of the VFFCC branch in HCM City, said the descendants must follow in the footsteps of their ancestors’ unyielding and glorious tradition in making great efforts to successfully construct and develop the city in the new period.

Delegates and local people joined a ritual procession and offered incense and flowers to the Hung Kings and Nguyen Huu Canh, who founded the city of Saigon in 1698.

A wide range of activities, such as a contest to make Chung cake, a book festival, a photo exhibition, folk games, and performances of martial arts, drumming, and dragon dances were organised at the park on the day.

Together with people nationwide, Nghe An held a ceremony to mark the anniversary of the death of the Hung Kings at Hong Son Temple on April 25.

From the early morning, many local people and visitors arrived at the temple to offer incense and flowers to commemorate the Hung Kings.
