All six Vietnamese students win medals at APIO 2023

VOV.VN - Six Vietnamese students have secured four silver and two bronze medals at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad 2023 (APIO 2023) which was virtually held by China from May 20-22.

The four silver medals went to the 11th graders Nguyen Duc Thang and Pham Cong Minh, and the 12th graders Nguyen Ngoc Dang Khoa and graders Tran Xuan Bach, from high schools for gifted students in Hanoi and Phu Tho province.

The two bronze medals were awarded to the 12th grader Le Ngoc Bao Anh of Le Quy Don school for gifted students in Da Nang city, and the 12th grader Tran Vinh Khanh of Quang Tri high school in Quang Tri province.

APIO 2023 attracted the participation of 1,471 contestants from 36 countries and territories.

The Vietnamese team initially consisted of 15 contestants, taking online exams at the University of Technology, Hanoi National University.

According to regulations, six candidates with the highest scores were selected to vie for prizes, and they finally took four silver and two bronze medals.

With all six students winning the medals, Vietnam was ranked ninth in the medal tally.
