AI integration boosts Russian language training in Vietnam

The week-long program, titled "Uchu Velikomu" (I teach the great) and "Uchus Velikomu" (I learn the great), was co-organized by the Russian Ministry of Education, the "My History" Fund, and the A.I. Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia.

A delegation of lecturers from the Russian Language Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education attended the event.

The program updated methods for teaching Russian as a foreign language, focusing on integrating digital technology and AI into lesson design to enhance professional capacity and adaptability among Russian language teachers amid modern educational changes.

Upon addressing the closing ceremony, German Zubovich, Deputy Director of the Department for National Educational System Integration and International Cooperation, and Head of the Department for Cooperation with Latin American and African Countries and International Organizations under the Russian Ministry of Education, praised the program's outcomes as evidence of deepening educational ties between Russia and partner nations.

He specifically acknowledged the serious work ethic, openness to learning, and innovative capacity of Vietnamese teachers in applying AI to lesson design, affirming that the ministry will continue to support and expand specialized training programs for Russian language teachers worldwide, including in Vietnam.

At the event, Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa, First Secretary in charge of education at the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, thanked the organizers, noting that the program provided practical teaching methods while creating a space for cultural exchange. She emphasized that practical knowledge of digital technology and a deeper understanding of learner psychology will serve as valuable tools for Vietnamese teachers upon returning home, helping spark student interest in the Russian language while strengthening friendship between the two peoples.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Giang, Vice Head of the Russian Language Department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and head of the delegation, shared that this was the first in-person training program organized in Moscow specifically for a Vietnamese delegation. Over the week, lecturers engaged in specialized topics on teaching methodology, phonetics, grammar, and technology integration, culminating in a simulated one-hour teaching evaluation to apply the covered techniques.

She added that the program provided practical knowledge, reinforcing language proficiency and pedagogical skills while offering deeper insights into Russian culture, enabling lecturers to vividly convey knowledge and a love for the Russian language to Vietnamese students.

At the end of the program, the organizing board awarded certificates of completion to the Vietnamese teachers.

Integrating digital technology and AI into teacher training contributes to renewing teaching methods and creating new connections in Vietnam-Russia educational cooperation, while fostering the preservation and development of the Russian language space in Vietnam amid digital transformation.
