3D mapping show marks 50th anniversary of HCM City’s renaming from Saigon
VOV.VN - Thousands of residents and visitors gathered in downtown Ho Chi Minh City on July 1 to enjoy a 3D mapping light show combined with live music, opening a wide array of activities marking the 50th anniversary of Saigon-Gia Dinh being officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City after President Ho Chi Minh.
In his opening speech at the event, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong said the 50 years since the city was renamed after President Ho Chi Minh have marked a period of strong transformation, with the city growing from an urban area heavily affected by war into one of Vietnam’s leading centers for economics, culture, science, technology and innovation.
The combination of contemporary performance art and 3D mapping technology is intended to convey a message of a dynamic, innovative and people-centered city that values its past, stays firmly grounded in the present and confidently looks toward the future.
During the nearly 30-minute show, performances by teams from Vietnam and France transformed the facade of the headquarters of the municipal People’s Council and People’s Committee, taking audiences through the city’s historical milestones, cultural values and aspirations for greater global integration.
The combination of visuals, sound and lighting effects created an emotionally engaging artistic space, highlighting the interplay between tradition and modernity, as well as between national cultural identity and the spirit of international integration.
