36 inmates in Dien Bien enjoy special amnesty decision

VOV.VN - Na Tau Prison under the Ministry of Public Security and the detention facility of Dien Bien province on June 1 announced the implementation of the 2026 presidential amnesty decision for 36 inmates eligible for early release under Vietnam’s clemency policy.

At Na Tau Prison, 22 inmates serving prison sentences were granted amnesty certificates. The inmates had demonstrated significant progress during rehabilitation, complying strictly with prison regulations, actively participating in labour and educational activities, and fulfilling obligations in accordance with the law.

Na Tau Prison is currently responsible for the management and rehabilitation of nearly 1,500 inmates. Following a review and evaluation process conducted under legal regulations, 22 cases were recommended for amnesty and subsequently approved by the President.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Minh Phu, vice chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People’s Committee, noted the special amnesty policy reflects Vietnam’s humanitarian approach and tradition of leniency toward individuals who show remorse and determination to reintegrate into society.

He encouraged the released individuals to continue complying with the law, actively work to stabilise their lives and avoid reoffending after returning to the local community.

Meanwhile, the detention facility of Dien Bien Provincial Police also announced amnesty decisions for 14 inmates who had made efforts in study, labour, rehabilitation and compliance with detention regulations.

The inmates expressed gratitude for the clemency policy and pledged to obey the law, work positively and rebuild stable lives after their release.
