22 rescued after tourist boat capsizes in Ha Long Bay
VOV.VN - Border guards in Quang Ninh province rescued 22 passengers after a tourist boat capsized during a sudden storm in Ha Long Bay on the afternoon of July 19.

The vessel, registration number QN 7105, overturned while carrying 48 tourists and five crew members. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. near Gia Luan, Cat Hai areas due to powerful winds and rough conditions.
Immediately after the accident, the Quang Ninh Border Guard Command deployed five rescue vessels and 35 officers and soldiers, led by Colonel Tran Van Thanh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff. The provincial Military Command also advised the local administration to establish an emergency search and rescue center.
Provincial Party Secretary Vu Dai Thang directly oversaw the emergency response, while Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Duc An arrived at the scene to coordinate rescue efforts. The top priority was to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew.
As of 6 p.m. on July 19, a total of 22 people had been rescued and three bodies recovered. Of these, border guards rescued 7 people, while civilian boats saved 3 more. Two additional survivors were pulled from the water shortly before 6 p.m.
Search and recovery efforts continued into the evening.
