1,436 people killed in traffic accidents in Q1

VOV.VN - Traffic accidents killed a total of 1,436 people and injured 917 others in during the first three months of the year, marking decreases of 14.3% and 3.2% respectively against the same period from last year.

According to the National Committee for Traffic Safety, as many as 2,346 traffic accidents occurred in the reviewed period, a fall of 15.1% year on year.

Between February 15 to March 14 alone, the country reported 717 traffic collisions, killing 389 people and injuring 275 others.

In the first quarter of the year the traffic police handled more than 420,000 cases of traffic violations nationwide, with a total administrative fine of around VND890 billion. These figures mark decreases of 31.8% and 44.3% compared to the same period in 2022.

Up to 99,000 cases of drink driving were fined throughout the reviewed period, up 53.3% year on year.
