14 sets of martyr remains found under preschool foundation

VOV.VN - Some 14 sets of remains believed to be wartime military soldiers have been discovered when construction workers refurbished a preschool in Tan Thoi commune, Phong Dien district of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The remains of the martyrs were excavated along with some buttons, parachute cords, bullets and army belts at a depth of 1.7 – 2m by search team K90 of the Military Region 9.

All of the remains are unaccounted for.

According to local authorities, the remains might be soldiers who died during the past wars of resistance against French colonialists and American imperialists.

The search team handed over the remains to authorities for reburial at a local martyrs cemetery.

The team are calling on veterans who fought in the Lo Vong battlefield to help identify the martyrs so that they could rest in peace in their hometowns.
