Vietnamese Vice President starts official visit to Croatia

VOV.VN - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan led a delegation to Zagreb on the afternoon of October 9 afternoon (local time), marking the start of their official visit to Croatia.

The delegation was welcomed at Zagreb International Airport by Croatian State Secretary for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Zdenko Lucić, Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary and Croatia Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, Croatian Ambassador to Malaysia and Vietnam Ivan Velimir Starcevic, and staff members of the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary and Croatia.

Later that day VP Xuan met with the embassy’s staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Croatia, during which she briefed them on the country’s successes in COVID-19 prevention and control, and various economic developments, especially during the first nine months of this year.

Regarding mutual diplomatic ties, the VP was delighted to outline the co-operation achievements in different areas such as economics, politics, and culture, whilst appreciating Croatia's support for the country in the COVID-19 fight.

She put forward the view that both sides should seek to enhance bilateral co-operation, particularly as the two countries continue to have substantial opportunities and potential for stronger collaboration.

In line with this, Vietnam could potentially serve as a gateway for Croatia to access other Southeast Asian nations, while Croatia can help Vietnamese businesses ramp up investment in European countries, the VP noted.

For her part, Ambassador Thao highlighted the significance of Xuan’s visit to bilateral diplomatic ties, pledging to work alongside embassy staff to contribute to co-operation between the two nations.
