Vietnam welcomes diplomatic activities taken by UN Special Envoy for Yemen

VOV.VN- Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, permanent representative of Vietnam to the UN, welcomed diplomatic activities taken by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, and reaffirmed the nation’s support for the Special Envoy’s efforts in resuming comprehensive and sustainable political dialogue among stakeholder.

During his speech made at the UN Security Council (UNSC)’s recent discussion regarding the ongoing situation in the Middle Eastern country, the Vietnamese diplomat expressed concern regarding military escalation in Yemen. In particular, the Ambassador highlighted the situation in Marib, which he said may destroy peace reconstruction efforts throughout the country, cause pain to Yemeni people and threaten the stability of the entire region.

The nation therefore called on all relevant parties to end military acts, resume dialogue and co-operate with the UN Special Envoy to seek a comprehensive political solution for Yemen.

The country also urged all parties to respect the International Humanitarian Law, implement the UNSC Resolution 2573, including the protection of civil infrastructure works, and speed up the implementation of both the Stockholm and Riyadh Agreements.

With regard to issues relating to the Safer oil tanker, Ambassador Quy called on Ansar Allah to engage in full collaboration with the UN as a means of seeking proper solutions, thereby preventing risks of possible environmental and humanitarian environmental disasters in the future.
