Vietnam, Poland step up defence co-operation

VOV.VN - Deputy Defence Minister Sen. Lieut. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien hosted a reception on January 16 in Hanoi for new Polish Defence Attaché to Vietnam Col. Jaroslaw Bondalski.

During the course of the reception, the Polish official affirmed that the Eastern European nation places great importance on its defence co-operation with Vietnam, regarding the Southeast Asian nation as an important partner.

He therefore pledged that throughout his working tenure, he will exert every effort to further promote bilateral defence ties.

Congratulating Col. Bondalski on undertaking the new post, Deputy Minister Chien expressed his belief that the officer will greatly contribute to the traditional friendship that exists between the two sides in general, with a specific focus on their defence collaboration.

The Vietnamese Defence Ministry backs the further promotion of the two countries’ defence co-operation in line with the 2010 memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bilateral defence co-operation, he stated.

He therefore suggested that both sides continue launching collaboration activities on the basis of the MoU, with more delegation exchanges and training moving forward whilst building linkages in the defence industry.

The Ministry is willing to offer favourable conditions for the Polish Defence Attaché to work alongside Vietnamese agencies and units to augment co-operation and seek fresh collaboration opportunities, Deputy Minister Chien stated.
