Vietnam, Mongolia celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations
The Vietnam-Mongolia Friendship Association held a ceremony in Hanoi on November 21 evening to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (November 17, 1954 - 2024).
Addressing the event, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that over the past 70 years, the friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia have continuously been strengthened and developed, becoming a beautiful example of resilient bonds that have withstood the challenges of time and geographical distance.
Reviewing major achievements in bilateral cooperation, Hoan noted that the two countries have established a political consultation mechanism at the deputy foreign minister level with 10 meetings held since 2002, and the Vietnam-Mongolia Intergovernmental Committee with 18 sessions since 1979. These mechanisms have laid out numerous directions and measures to enhance the bilateral ties, he held.
The official underlined that the two countries' people have consistently worked to build and strengthen relations in various areas, including politics, trade, investment, defence, security, law enforcement, education, culture, sports, tourism, and cooperation in international and regional forums. Over decades, these ties have deepened mutual understanding and respect, providing a solid foundation for the stable and sustainable development of the bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia Jadamba Enkhbayar emphasised that the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations is a significant milestone in the friendship between the two countries. He affirmed that both nations have great potential to expand economic and trade cooperation, and committed to further supporting mutually beneficial business activities between Vietnam and Mongolia.
Enkhbayar said that Mongolia has a strong advantage in meat production and exports, while Vietnam excels in rice exports, which enables them to step up agricultural cooperation. The Mongolian Government will continue to improve investment policies, focusing on creating a stable and reliable business environment, and strive to become a trusted and long-term partner of Vietnam.
