Vietnam firmly opposes illegal construction in Hoang Sa
VOV.VN - Vietnam firmly opposes and has made formal representations regarding illegal land reclamation and construction activities conducted by China at Antelope Reef and Yagong Island in Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang made the statement on August 28 in reply to a reporter's query regarding Vietnam’s reaction to China's illegal land reclamation and construction at Antelope Reef and Yagong Island.
“Vietnam’s stance on the Hoang Sa Islands is clear and consistent. The country has full historical evidence and legal basis to assert its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa Islands, including Antelope Reef and Yagong Island, in accordance with international law,” the spokesperson emphasized.
“Vietnam reaffirms that all foreign activities in the Hoang Sa Islands, including at Antelope Reef and Yagong Island, without Vietnamese permission are entirely illegal, null and void. Th nation firmly opposes these actions, has made formal representations and affirmed its stance on the matter, demanding an immediate halt to such activities and that they not recur.”

Vietnam has sufficient historical evidence and legal grounds to affirm its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) in accordance with international law, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang has stated.
