Vietnam aspires to boost all-around cooperation with Poland

VOV.VN - The nation always treasures and desires to bolster multifaceted cooperation with Poland, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said, while receiving Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Wojciech Gerwel in Hanoi on October 13.

The Vietnamese diplomat suggested both sides continue facilitating exchange visits by senior leaders and officials of ministries and agencies with a view to consolidating political trust and mutual understanding, thus laying a foundation for expanding bilateral collaboration across multiple fields.

Son thanked the Government and people of Poland for donating 501,600 AstraZeneca vaccine doses to Vietnam and key medical supplies to Ho Chi Minh City to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Poland will also deliver 890,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses to the nation this week.

He also praised Poland as the biggest trade partner of Vietnam in Central and Eastern Europe. Two-way trade achieved an impressive figure of US$1.67 billion during the eight months of this year.

Son asked Poland to soon ratify the European Union – Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and launch the bilateral economic cooperation consultation mechanism to capitalize on benefits brought about by the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EVIPA.

In response, the Polish Ambassador pledged his best efforts to further promote the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two nations to meet their practical interests in the time ahead.
