Top Vietnamese legislator enjoys successful visits to RoK and India

VOV.VN - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and his entourage landed at Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi on the night of December 19, successfully concluding his official six-day visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) and India.

During his stay in the RoK, NA Chairman Hue held talks with Speaker of the Korean NA Park Byeong-seug and met with RoK Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum. While in India, NA Chairman Hue held talks with Speaker of the Lok Sabha (House of Representatives) of India Om Birla and had a host of meetings with Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) of India Venkaiah Naidu.

The Vietnamese NA leader was also in attendance at a range of events aimed at stepping up co-operation between localities and businesses of both sides, which have contributed to further propelling the Vietnam–RoK strategic co-operative partnership forward. The trip also saw functions held to boost the friendship and comprehensive strategic co-operation partnership with India.

The trip continued to affirm the Vietnamese Party and State’s open foreign policy of diversification, multilateralisation, proactiveness, activeness, and responsibility, thereby contributing to improving the country's position in the region and the wider world.

It also served as a platform to promote the strength of parliamentary diplomacy in bilateral relations with two of the nation’s important strategic partners in Asia. This is alongside consolidating political trust with senior leaders of the RoK and Indian parliaments and experiencing sharing parliamentary activities, as well as measures for economic recovery and development amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The trip served to obtain comprehensive results in politics, foreign affairs, vaccine diplomacy, people-to-people diplomacy, and work being done by members of the overseas Vietnamese community.

It is therefore worth noting that as many as nine co-operation agreements were signed between various Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and agencies with their counterparts from the RoK and India. In addition, 39 investment certificates and co-operation agreements worth US$15 billion were handed over during the course of the working trip.

The trip can be seen as yielding specific results in relation to "vaccine diplomacy" and co-operation in combating COVID-19.

Through high-level meetings held with businesses, the top Vietnamese legislator received COVID-19 vaccines, supplies, and materials for producing COVID-19 treatment drugs, and financial support from both RoK and Indian enterprises.
